Christmas time in Sevilla

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Dear friends:

Before leaving Switzerland almost a year ago our friends Solvejg and Jens brought us from their home, the German ‘Erzgebirge’ a wonderful wooden christmas tradition, which is called ‘Schwibbogen’. It is a piece of art, showing a winter landscape from this area, with nice lights effects. Now we have installed it for the first time in Sevilla, and enjoying the lights in the living room at night with a nice hot tea, chocolate or a glass of Spanish wine. For our german speaking friends, we attach the link to some explanations about this interesting piece of culture of this area: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erzgebirgischer_Schwibbogen

Meanwhile Sevilla has during christmas time nice christmas decorations, which we explored one week ago….of course combining it with a nice dessert for the whole familiy ;-)

Christmas activities in Tomares

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Dear friends

Well, everybody talks - of course - of the capital of Andalucía, Sevilla. But living now for almost a year in this area, we have been impressed by all the activities that our suburbal village, Tomares, is organizing for its people. Well, the playgrounds are just great (unique: most of them have also a bar for the needs of the adults: coffee, beer, tapas, some even with barbecue….), then there also a lot of cultural activities, as for example the ‘feria de libros’, which will take place next weekend. As well, the christmas activities are astounding. Last weekend the started with the lighting of the christmas decoration and - what a surprise - an open icefield, as you can see on the picture. Every weekend there will be now some special activities, ending on the 6th of January with the day of the wholy kings. This day is celebrated here a lot with for example with big processiones!
